Since their emergence in the mid-nineties, cybercafes have spread wildly throughout the world's more developed countries.

This initial, rapid expansion had the aim of affordably satisfying the needs of both the large numbers of homes without Internet access and travelers of all types. Slowly the number of homes who had Internet access -mainly North American, European and Eastern Asian- increased. This situation lead to the end of the initial boom, and only the cybercafes capable of providing some kind of value added to the basic service, related to their design and functionality, could survive.

Cybercafes focuses on the most aesthetical side of these establishments and what is known as their surf ing interiors, which clearly evoke digital navigation and real time interconnection. Likewise, it offers a wide range of examples of existing cybercafes, whose origins have taken root in the more traditional form, including cyberlounges in restaurants and schools, training centers that use e-learning as a method of teaching and institutions that offer the service of online banking, as well as the establishments of the future, hailed by the design of new mediums of digital communication.
