Résumé

Even though IP has become the dominant protocol, applications running on SNA, NetBIOS, IPX, AppleTalk, VINES, DECnet, and ISO CLNS still exist in many enterprise networks. In these mutliprotocol environments, networkers often find it exasperating and time-consuming when deploying corporate-wide network applications. The hardest part is making the underlying bridging or routing protocols tick for these network applications. Currently, not many technical literatures are devoted to configuring Cisco routers for multiprotocol environments. Configuring Cisco Routers for Bridging, DLSw+, and Desktop Protocols was written to be the book that fills in this gap, using real scenarios in a comprehensive step-by-step implementation approach.

This book is intended for candidates preparing for the CCIE certification or networking professionals who need to configure and support multiprotocol networks on Cisco routers. The book introduces technical detail progressively in the context of practical scenarios and case studies. No major background in IBM networking or desktop protocols is required. In addition, the router configurations illustrated in this book can be used to get a connection up and running quickly, or as templates to implement more complex configurations.
