Résumé
--
In modern philosophy, there exists a beginning that is specifically Kantian. By putting an end to scholarly metaphysics, Kant opens up the critical device which will become decisive for all thinking thereafter. The critical idea becomes the guiding thread which permits us to revisit the diverse fields of metaphysics, the science of nature, history, law, politics establishing philosophy as an orderly task with a primacy of action. So if we do not learn philosophy, but simply to philosophize, (the philosophical method being essentially research) it is because thinking cannot be exhaustively represented in one definitive book, and no philosopher can claim to be the master of wisdom. Thus Kant inaugurates, as H. Birault remarks, a generation of thinkers who are no longer the actors of just one book, since philosophy has become an 'open field'. This also explains why all later thinking was devoted to discussion with Kant, whether to surpass, radicalise or reject him, or to grasp what he left un-thought. He is both a figure looking back toward Greek initiality and a figure pointing to the ultimate future. The studies presented here attempt to deploy the multiple facets of a philosophy that has never ceased to attract.
