Résumé
--
A Jew, Catholic priest and Israeli national, he sees his life as a long march in the trail of the Glowing Cloud in which God is present. Fate has made him a citizen of the world. André Hussar, or Brother Bruno as he is known in the Dominican Order, was born in 1911 of a Hungarian father and a French mother, both of them non-practicing Jews. After receiving an English primary education, he went with his parents, who had taken Italian nationality, to Cairo, where he went to an Italian secondary school. From Egypt he travelled to France, gained French nationality and an engineer's diploma from the Ecole Central de Paris. Later, he was to say, "I have retained one thing from my studies: the desire to build bridges... between men." Never having received a religious education, his meeting with Jesus Christ marked the beginning of his spiritual path, that of a Jewish disciple of Jesus. In Jerusalem, he founded the Maison Saint-Isaïe, a Dominican centre for the study of Judaism, then Nevé Shalom, a village where Jews and Arabs live in peace together. He obtained Israeli citizenship in 1966. "Quand la Nuée se levait" is an account of his fascinating life.
