Radar and ARPA Manual

Radar and Target Tracking for Professional Mariners, Yachtsmen and Users of Marine Radar

Alan Bole, Bill Dineley, Alan Wall - Collection Marine Engineering

546 pages, parution le 11/05/2005 (2eme édition)

Résumé

The definitive work on radar and ARPA for use at sea or on shore

Radar systems are fitted on all commercial vessels, and are widely used in the marine leisure sector as well as vessel traffic services (VTS). They are frequently used in conjunction with an Automatic Target Tracking device, traditionally known as the ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting Aid). This fully revised new edition covers the complete radar/ARPA installation and serves as the most comprehensive and up-to-date reference on equipment and techniques for radar observers using older and newer systems alike. Suitable for use both as a professional reference and as a training text, the book covers all aspects of radar, ARPA and integrated bridge system technology (including AIS, ECDIS and GNSS), and their role in shipboard operations. It is a valuable resource for larger vessels and also covers the needs of leisure and amateur sailors for whom this technology is now accessible.

  • The most up-to-date book available, with full coverage of modern radar and ARPA systems
  • Ideal for professional, educational and leisure maritime needs
  • Covers both professional and amateur certificate requirements

The Radar and ARPA Manual provides essential information for mariners on training courses for electronic navigation systems and professional certificates internationally. Reference is made throughout to IMO (International Maritime Organization) Performance Standards, the role of radar in navigation and in collision avoidance, and to international professional and amateur marine operations qualifications.
