Le christ et la trinité chez athanase d'alexandrie

Résumé
--
Through his original treatment of the mystery of the Trinity, Bishop Athanasius of Alexandria left his mark on theological tradition even up to the present day. Athanasius substantially reworked the theological synthesis of his predecessors, Clement of Alexandria and Origen, keeping in line with the new Alexandrian theological context. Around 318, Arius, a presbyter from Baukalis in Alexandria, undertook to teach a Christological doctrine that tended to deny the Son's divinity: 'There was a time when the Son did not exist He came into existence ex nihilo, like the other creatures.' Confronted with this doctrine, Alexander, Athanasius's predecessor in the Alexandrian episcopate, then Athanasius himself, took up the torch of the Fathers of the Council of Nicaea who, in 325, had condemned Arius, his followers and his doctrine. Citing the Christ as revealed in the scriptures, the pope of Egypt demonstrated that only if Christ is really God can he reveal to us the mystery of the Trinity, and only if He is really man, can he make human nature divine: 'God became man, that man might become God.' Referring to the Bible, Athanasius thus defended the Nicaean dogma of the consubstantiation of the Son and the Father, then, after 362, the consubstantiation of the Holy Spirit with the Father and the Son.
