Résumé
--
In 2000, in his book Va à Ninive !, Jean-Marie Mérigoux described the lives of Iraqi Christians as well as his own experiences in Iraq, and in Mosul in particular, where there has been a Dominican presence for the past 250 years. Vers d'autres Ninive is a collection of letters written by the author to his parents and friends from the different places where he has lived or stayed: Egypt, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and various other European countries. In these pages, the author tells of people he has met, recounts anecdotes and testimonies, for the most part evoking the joyful and demanding aspects of everyday life in the Muslim world and that of the Eastern Catholic and Orthodox Churches established there. These letters serve to remind us that Christians and Muslims have lived side by side in these regions for centuries, often with difficulty. Cairo, Istanbul and Marseilles, these three cities recall the Biblical and Iraqi Nineveh, where it is appropriate today, as in the past, to announce God's universal mercy.
