Written and directed by Academy Award® winner and Palme d'Or recipient Jane Campion, The Power of the Dog is a haunting western set in 1920s Montana, adapted from Thomas Savage's 1967 novel of the same name. With a star-studded cast featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons, Kirsten Dunst and Kodi Smit- McPhee, the story focuses on a charismatic rancher, Phil Burbank (Cumberbatch), who inspires fear and awe in those around him. When his brother brings home a new wife and her son, Phil torments them until he finds himself exposed to the possibility of love. The film earned Campion the Silver Lion award for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival.
