L'auteur - Kendra Schank Smith
Kendra Schank Smith, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Architecture at the University of Hartford USA. She teaches architectural design studio, history/theory seminars, and visual communications. Her research explores the meaning and intention found in architecture sketches as part of a design process. She has published articles on the history and theory of architectural sketches and, additionally, topics such as theory of drawing, visual communication, design studio pedagogy, and urban issues.
Dr. Smith has practiced in the design section of Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo and Associates in Hamden, Connecticut, participating in such projects as Central Park Zoo, United Nations Development Corporation and a high rise for 60 Wall Street, all in New York City. She earned her Ph.D. in Architecture from Georgia Institute of Technology, concentrating on History, Theory and Criticism, and she holds a professional degree M.Arch from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She has taught at universities in the United States of America, including Texas A&M, University of Minnesota, SUNY at Buffalo and the University of Utah.
