Résumé
Modeling engineering geological systems is a difficult
task. There are always uncertainties and imprecisions
involved which hinders the use of a precise modeling tool.
This book presents a Soft Computing modeling framework to
tackle these problems. The book is primarily focused on the
use of rule based-fuzzy modeling and neural networks
methods in conjuction with conventional statistical
techniques. Soft Computing methods allow the integration of
theoretical knowledge, experimental data, field
observations, and know-how of the problem at hand, and
result in the construction of a workable and realistic
model. The book is essential for engineer' ing geologists
and civil engineers dealing with process modeling,
uncertainty management and decision making.
