Governing financial globalization
International political economy and multi-level governance
Andrew Baker, David Hudson, Richard Woodward - Collection RIPE Series in Global Political Economy
Résumé
Over the last three decades, financial globalization has emerged as one of the principal governance challenges of the modern era. This book examines how globalization has led to the rise of multi-level global financial governance and assesses the analytical use of that concept within international political economy.
This volume unpacks the increasingly complex patterns of governance and authority associated with financial globalization by discussing a range of complementary case studies including:
- The everyday life of global finance
- Macroeconomic policy
- European Union banking regulation
- IMF policy in Asia
- The City of London's financial markets
- The New International Financial Architecture
Governing Financial Globalization contends that the concept of multi-level governance can provide a fruitful way of identifying sources of power and authority in, and enhancing our understanding of, the increasingly complex field of monetary and financial governance in a globalizing world. This interdisciplinary volume combines insights from political science, economics, geography, sociology and social anthropology. It will appeal to all academics working on social and political aspects of finance and economic organization more generally.
