Résumé
Don't just deploy it--deploy it for speed. One of the most active areas of development in communications, messaging is the almost instantaneous passing of short messages from one network to another, or from one network component to another. Pagers, cell phones, and PDAs are all messaging systems, as is AOL Instant Messaging (R). Big software suites for the enterprise like ERP, EAI, and SAP all contain messaging components.
One reason for messagings new popularity is the recent publication of programming interfaces for Java. Now these systems are not only widespread but accessible. Developers need background on message passing internals and how message systems are designed and deployed in order to use these tools. This is the first book on message passing written for the veteran developer and the newcomer who wants to work in communications.
Production quality components and system management tools are available on the CD-ROM.
A complete messaging server construction, deployment, and management kit
With the emergence of the Internet and heterogeneous computing environments, message-passing technology has gone from obscure to mainstream. Cell phones, pagers, PDAs, and browser-based network clients have made messaging technology accessible to everyone.
This book targets developers interested in implementation, engineers migrating into communications, and network administrators interested in deployment issues. This book is an extensive guide to constructing a fully functional message-passing engine, complete with deployment and management tools.
With short, step-by-step tutorials, Bill Blunden moves smoothly from explaining basic theory to designing and implementing high-level subsystems. Background material is presented in a way that will appeal to novice engineers, but the sophisticated approach will make advanced developers feel right at home. The companion CD contains source code for original implementation, in addition to system management utilities.
