Résumé

Mobile Channel Fading is a loss in transmission intensity caused by changes in the transmission medium. Conventionally, the multiplicative processes in the channel can be subdivided into three types of fading - path loss, shadowing (or slow fading) and multipath fading (or fast fading). A well-founded knowledge of the mobile fading channel is indispensable for the development, evaluation and test of present and future mobile communication systems. By dealing with the modelling, analysis and simulation of mobile fading channels, this text provides the reader with a fundamental understanding of many issues that are currently being investigated in the area of mobile fading channel modelling. The main topics addressed in the book are: · Fundamentals of stochastic and deterministic channel models · Modelling and simulation of frequency-nonselective fading channels (e.g. Rayleigh channels, Rice channels, generalized Rice channels, Nakagami channels, various types of Suzuki channel models, classical and modified Loo-model) · Modelling and simulation of frequency-selective fading channels (WSSUS-model, DGUS-model, channel models specified by COST 207) · Methods for the design and realisation of efficient channel simulators · Design, realization and analysis of fast channel simulators A comprehensive presentation of the modelling, analysis and simulation of mobile fading channels, further features of this text include: · Provides a fundamental understanding of key issues currently being investigated in the area of mobile fading channel modelling · Features numerous MATLAB programs for the evaluation and simulation of mobile fading channels A valuable reference resource fortelecommunications engineers, electrical engineers, computer scientists and physicists working in industry or research centres in the field of wireless communications.
