Moving Pixels is the first comprehensive collection of three-dimensional CGI images from the most renowned film studios, animation and special-effects houses, and independent digital artists working today. It is also the first book to present these images as art.

Since 3D computer images emerged in the popular culture a mere two decades ago, the art of the computer-generated image (CGI) has become one of the most astounding and transformative applications of digital technology, famously making possible the creation of fictitious worlds and make-believe characters that are so realistic they fool the eye and the mind.

Here are spectacular images from Academy Award-winning films, blockbuster games, hit television series and commercials. Included are Star Wars: Episode I and II, The Hulk, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, The Lord of the Rings and Shrek, as well as relatively unknown jewels from studio-made short films.

Peter Weishar is Professor and Dean of the School of Film and Digital Media, Savannah College of Art and Design. Weishar is also an accomplished computer artist and animator. He is the author of Blue Sky: The Art of Computer Animation.
