Pro Apache Beehive
Learn to work with the open source SOA-driven Apache Beehive framework and the Apache XMLBeans API
Kunal Mittal, Srinivas Kanchanavally - Collection The Expert's Voice in Java
Résumé
As a J2EE developer, you may be wondering, why another MVC framework? Isn't Struts good enough? In Pro Apache Beehive, we answer this question and show you everything you need to know to use the open source Apache Beehive framework, from the core concepts to the detailed code implementations.
Apache Beehive is a collection of three technologies originally found only in BEA WebLogic Workshop: Page Flows (or NetUI), Controls, and Web Service metadata based on the JSR181 specification. First, the Page Flows technology is an MVC framework built on top of Struts that leverages the notion of annotations (first made available in Java 5). Second, Controls streamline business processes and make your applications more service oriented. Finally, the Web Service implementation in Apache Beehive is built on top of Apache Axis and leverages the JSR 181 annotation specification.
We'll also cover XMLBeans, which is a Java-XML binding technology. Think of it as an object-relational mapping tool for XML!
Be prepared to get down and dirty in Pro Apache Beehive-you will be reading, writing, deploying, and testing code. Enjoy your journey through these new lightweight technologies as you apply them to your everyday enterprise Java applications.
