Pro OpenSSH
Take advantage of OpenSSH, the world's most popular SSH protocol implementation, to secure your network.

Résumé
If you're considering migrating away from legacy rsh, rlogin, telnet, and FTP protocols, SSH is a powerful, secure replacement. The most widespread SSH implementation is OpenSSH, an open source version of this protocol's connectivity tools.
Installing, configuring, and operating OpenSSH is a fairly easy task, but this book takes you beyond the basics. Over my years architecting and implementing enterprise-level SSH deployments, I've learned many valuable lessons about managing SSH in environments ranging from two to 1,000 nodes, across workstations, servers, desktops, and embedded devices. In this book, you'll learn how to overcome many of the challenges I've encountered.
This book begins with an analysis of traditional protocols, discussing their weaknesses and how SSH overcomes the security problems they present. Coverage of OpenSSH basics follows, beginning with installation and configuration, followed by several chapters on the OpenSSH architecture and client and server configuration. Commonplace implementation issues are presented in the chapters that follow, in which you'll learn about authentication, tunneling legacy protocols, scripting SSH tasks, architectural considerations, and interoperability issues.
OpenSSH has become an essential tool in my daily work as a system administrator for both its built-in security and productivity gains. A well-designed OpenSSH architecture enables the automation of many administrative tasks while at the same time not compromising security through ill-advised configurations.
If you are new to SSH, or if you've been using it but are unsure about advanced features and automation, this book is for you.
