Programming Perl in the .Net Environment
Michael Saltzman, Robert J. Oberg, Yevgeny Menaker
Résumé
For all students in courses on the Perl programming
language.
Modern Perl Programming is the Perl programming guide that
helps students master all of Perl's most robust
features—so they can make the most of the language
regardless of their experience. Michael Saltzman begins
with a rapid-fire tutorial designed to jumpstart novices
and give experienced Perl programmers a concise refresher
on the language's key features. Then, using real
applications (not just code snippets), he helps students
gain an in-depth understanding of Perl data types, I/O,
control structures, operators, arrays, hashes, and regular
expressions. Saltzman then moves on to home-grown
subroutines, report writing, accessing system resources,
and debugging.
Finally, he introduces advanced techniques for working with
data structures and references, architecting
object-oriented Perl programs, writing network and CGI
programs, developing GUIs, and integrating with enterprise
databases. All code examples can be downloaded via an ftp
site.
