Résumé

Whether you are just learning SQL or are an experienced user, this book will show you how to make SQL work in your business environment. Beginners will benefit from the chapters that teach SQL basics by relating them to the concepts they already know. For those more experienced in SQL, this book offers practical, solid information on performance tuning of SQL statements, the AS/400 query optimizer, advanced SQL capabilities, and special tips and tricks specific to the AS/400. This book is the newest in the popular at Work series, which features a learn-by-example format and includes a CD-ROM packed with valuable software and example code. It covers DB2/UDB as it is implemented in OS/400 V4R5. In addition to SQL basics, iSeries and AS/400 SQL at Work provides extensive information on the Stored Procedure Language; clearly explains encoded vector indexes and when to use them; offers practical examples of embedded SQL; and even includes several killer queries that will teach you advanced SQL concepts you can apply to your daily work for increased productivity. Programmers in today's ever-changing IT world must continue to raise their marketable skill set and visibility. Learning SQL, the industry-standard data-access and manipulation language, will help you realize this goal.
