Née à Thornton (Yorkshire) en 1820, décédée à Scarborough en 1849, Anne Brontë est la soeur de Charlotte et d'Emily, également romancières. Elle s'adonna de bonne heure à la littérature composant contes, nouvelles, journaux et romans.
