Résumé
--
What role does our reading of the Bible play in the development of our ethical positions? Does moral reflection require biblical research? Does the work of moralists help us to examine the Bible, in order to discover God's will in today's world? How do theologians understand the rapport between the Scriptures and moral life? A team of teachers from the Institut Catholique de Paris approach all these questions in a spirit of dialogue. They begin by recalling a recent exchange of interests: that of biblical scholars for morals and Christian moralists for the Bible. Then they measure the parts played by the Bible and moral reflection in a case study that looks at the welcome foreigners receive in Europe. This concrete application constitutes the book's great originality. In conclusion they analyse, from a theological point of view, the conditions under which Biblical and moral research can be mutually enriching, and produce common results.
