The Gascon Rolls project (1317-1467), which lasted ten years (2009-2019), was an on-line project involving a number of historians and institutions, both in the UK and in France. It published on the web (www.gasconrolls.org) the calendar of this essential source for the history of SW France (the Gascon Rolls) produced by the English royal chancery concerning the government of Aquitaine-Gascony. The original rolls are preserved in the National Archives at Kew in series C 61. The Gascon Rolls project was one of the most ambitious projects to publish medieval sources on line in recent years. The rolls provide a very large amount of information on the duchy of Aquitaine (or Guyenne) and its relationship with England across the whole of the later middle ages, particularly during the notorious Hundred Years War. In order to ensure that this considerable research survives the test of time it has been decided to publish it in hard copy, in five volumes covering the period from 1317 to 1467.
This first volume concerns second part of the reign of King Edward II (1317-1327) (the first part of the reign already exists in printed form). The Gascon Rolls are particularly rich in information for this decade. They tell us much about the Gascon wine trade, for example, and also about the war of Saint-Sardos (1324-25) between England and France. This volume is therefore very useful for a variety of historical subjects and will be a reference work for years to come.

Le projet Gascon Rolls (1317-1467), qui a duré dix ans (2009-2019), était un projet en ligne impliquant un certain nombre d'historiens et d'institutions, tant au Royaume-Uni qu'en France. Il a permis de publier sur le web (www.gasconrolls.org) le calendrier de cette source essentielle pour l'histoire du Sud-Ouest de la France (les Gascon Rolls) produite par la chancellerie royale anglaise concernant le gouvernement d'Aquitaine-Gascogne. Les rouleaux originaux sont conservés aux Archives nationales de Kew dans la série C 61. Le projet des rouleaux gascons était l'un des projets les plus ambitieux de publication en ligne de sources médiévales de ces dernières années. Les rouleaux fournissent une très grande quantité d'informations sur le duché d'Aquitaine (ou de Guyenne) et ses relations avec l'Angleterre pendant toute la fin du Moyen Âge, en particulier pendant la fameuse guerre de Cent Ans. Afin d'assurer la pérennité de cette recherche considérable, il a été décidé de la publier sur papier, en cinq volumes couvrant la période de 1317 à 1467.
Ce premier volume concerne la deuxième partie du règne du roi Édouard II (1317-1327) (la première partie du règne existe déjà sous forme imprimée). Les rouleaux gascons sont particulièrement riches en informations pour cette décennie. Ils nous renseignent par exemple sur le commerce du vin gascon, mais aussi sur la guerre de Saint-Sardos (1324-25) entre l'Angleterre et la France.
