En chemin avec l'aveugle-né

Avancer dans la cécité est une épreuve qui oblige à vivre autrement, y compris la quête de Dieu, en assumant au quotidien les dimensions physiques, psychiques, intellectuelles et relationnelles de ce handicap. Assumant une cécité partielle évolutive, l'auteur a cherché à donner sens à un vécu souvent déroutant dans ses dimensions personnelle et sociale. Un jour, le regard de Jésus sur l'anonyme aveugle de naissance ainsi que sa question à cet autre aveugle nommé Bartimée : « Que veux-tu ? » l'ont bouleversée. C'était à elle et à ses amis aveugles que cette question était posée. Jeanne-Marie Pagnoux s'est alors engagée dans une recherche sur la cécité et le « voir » dans la Bible. Elle a découvert combien ces réalités humaines, que les auteurs bibliques rencontraient habituellement dans leur environnement social, sont significatives de la connaissance de Dieu et du désir de vivre en communion avec lui. Elle a donc trouvé, dans cette recherche, des raisons de vivre au jour le jour, et une espérance fondée sur une promesse : tous, nous sommes appelés à voir. En diffusant les fruits de cette quête, Jeanne-Marie Pagnoux a un triple souhait : informer les personnes voyantes sur certains aspects propres au handicap de la cécité dire à ses amis déficients visuels que le Christ peut donner sens à leur vécu et conduire le lecteur, quelle que soit son expérience, à une très profonde méditation sur l'existence, à une contemplation du mystère devant lequel nous sommes tous des aveugles. La foi en la vie a diverses nuances et la foi en Dieu, quand elle est enracinée dans le réalisme d'une vie avec ses hauts et ses bas, peut prendre des formes que nous n'avions pas imaginées. Blindness is an ordeal which obliges one to live differently by accepting, on a day to day basis, the physical, psychological, intellectual and relational aspects of this handicap, even in one's search for God. Assuming her own partial and progressive blindness, the author has sought to find meaning in an experience that is often disconcerting from a personal and social point of view. One day, the author was deeply touched by Jesus' consideration for an anonymous woman who had been blind from birth, and by the question he asked another blind person, a man called Bartimaeus: 'What do you want?' The question was addressed to her and her blind friends. So Jeanne-Marie Pagnoux began working to "see" blindness as it occurs in the Bible. She discovered how much these human realities, which the authors of the Bible encountered regularly in their social environment, represent the knowledge of God and the desire to live in communion with him. Thus she found, in the course of her research, reasons to live from day to day and maintain hope based on a promise: we are all called upon to see. In publishing the fruit of this search, Jeanne-Marie Pagnoux has a triple ambition: to inform sighted people about certain aspects related to the handicap of blindness to let her sight-impaired friends know that Christ can confer meaning to their experience and to invite her readers, regardless of their own experience, to a very deep meditation on existence and a contemplation of the mystery in the face of which we are all blind. Faith in life is multi-nuanced, and faith in God, when it is rooted in the reality of life, with its ups and downs, can reach heights we never imagined. To each of us our own experience!
