Figures bibliques de la mission

Pour élaborer une théologie de la mission à caractère oecuménique au XXIe siècle, l'approfondissement biblique est crucial. C'est la parole de Dieu, en effet, qui fonde la mission chrétienne, personnelle et communautaire, même si, dans chaque contexte, l'accent est mis sur telle figure biblique qui stimule l'engagement. C'est pourquoi l'Association francophone oecuménique de missiologie (AFOM) présente ici des études au croisement de l'exégèse biblique et de la réflexion théologique sur la mission. La première partie, « Geste de Dieu », renvoie à une interprétation de la présence, de la volonté et de l'action de Dieu dans le monde, ce que les missiologues nomment la mission de Dieu. Précédant tout engagement humain ou en Église, Dieu façonne et transforme la réalité de toute la création, il appelle des hommes et des femmes à s'engager pour édifier des communautés où règnent l'amour, le respect et le partage, et pour contester ce qui s'oppose à la justice et à la paix. « Figures missionnaires » évoque des exemples de réponse humaine à un appel de Dieu à coopérer à sa mission. Il y est question de personnes s'engageant à la suite de Jésus Christ, mais aussi de formes que peut prendre la mission dans des contextes particuliers, des choix requis pour un service, fidèle à l'intention d'origine indiquée dans la Bible. Les « réceptions » doivent aussi être « communautaires ». Les auteurs cherchent ici à comprendre pourquoi et comment l'Évangile s'incarne dans des formes de vie communautaire (paroles, actions, prières) qui pourront devenir des noyaux de transformation de la société et des espaces de vie nouvelle.

To elaborate an ecumenical theology of the mission in the 21st century, an in-depth study of the Bible is crucial, because it is in fact the word of God that forms the foundation of the Christian mission, whether personal or for the community even if, in both contexts, the accent is placed on a biblical figure who inspires engagement. That is why the Ecumenical French-speaking Association of Missiology (AFOM) has presented in this book studies which stand at the crossroads of Biblical exegesis and theological reflection on the mission. Part One, 'Gesture of God' evokes an interpretation of the presence, the will and the action of God in the world, what missiologists call the mission of God. Prior to all human engagement or that of the Church, God shapes and transforms the reality of all the creation, calling upon men and women to become committed to edifying communities in which love, respect and sharing will reign and to contest all things that oppose justice and peace. 'Figures missionnaires' gives examples of the human response to God's call to cooperate in his mission. We see people committed to following Jesus Christ, but also various forms the mission may take in particular contexts, choices that are necessary in one type of service, faithful to the original intention announced in the Bible. 'Receptions' must also take place in 'communities'. The authors seek to understand why and how the Gospel manifests itself in community life (words, actions, prayers) and may invest cells working for the transformation of society, creating spaces for a new life.
