Résumé

Touted by vendors as the solution for high-speed, efficient communications, voice over IP (VoIP) has become one of the hottest technologies in the communications and telecommunications industry. This must-have technology is now clearly explained in this one-of-a-kind reference. IP Telephony is the first book to present a framework for understanding how Internet telephony technologies are gathered into systems and how these systems can be combined to provide for voice communications of all types over the Internet.

Beginning with a comprehensive, yet easy-to-understand overview of Internet telephony and how to put it to use, the book progresses to in-depth coverage of these important topics :

  • Primary concepts of the standards and mechanics of IP telephony to get you up to speed right away
  • Digital voice IP fundamentals
  • Internet standards from the International Telecommunications Union (ITU)
  • All the pertinent standards needed to implement Internet telephony, including the international SS7, H.323, RSVP, and the ITU G.x series

IT and MIS technicians and managers, Internet Service Providers, or anyone interested in telecommunications will quickly realize the benefits of IP telephony by using the options and tools in this book. You'll see why VoIP has something for everyone !
