La deontologie des ministeres ecclesiaux
Christians Louis-. - Collection Droit canonique
Résumé
--
Informing, discussing the deontological rules linked to the practice of ecclesial ministry in a clear manner with analyses of the texts this is not just a 'handbook' for those who govern or judge. This book will help form deciders in dioceses, parishes, chaplaincies or institutions that provide spiritual assistance, be they religious or of a more general nature (Catholic private schools), or in the public services (airports, armies, prisons, hospitals, State or communal schools). This volume reveals the existence of deontological cultures with all their diversity and shared convictions, to assure the respect of the individual and engagements made in pastoral relations with voluntary workers or professionals for consultation by those who have to meet practicing Catholics or simply visitors. Readers may be surprised to observe the variety of pastoral engagements taken on by one Church: in Germany, for example, the practice of freedom of religion (personal, communitarian and institutional) differs from the system in Canada or France. From one religion to another, internal discipline (the internal law of religion) is more or less developed and adapted to modern life, plurality of culture and beliefs. In the canon law of the Roman Catholic Church, practical directives, doctrine and procedures do exist. The Catechism decreed by Pope John-Paul II has already inspired debates on the rapports between beliefs and ethics. The libraries are full of books bursting with moral theology! But the time has come to draw attention to the existence of a deontological problematic: multiple dimensions remain apparently isolated, and the Church and its partners must work for better coherency. This book is an appeal for a consequent and clear establishment of the deontology of the Catholic Church. With a comparative approach, this book is the fruit of a debate and the research of Catholic experts in ethics, ecclesiology, canon law and ecclesial civil law, from Canada and Europe. The work was accomplished with the assistance of the honorary president of the Conférence des évêques catholiques du Canada, Mgr Jacques Berthelet and under the direction of Prof. Louis-Léon Christians of the Catholic University of Louvain-La-Neuve and the Institut catholique in Paris (secretary general of the 'Europe' dept. of the international Consortium 'Droit canonique & culture'of the Faculty of Canon Law, ICP).
