Résumé
--
The Christians of Kurdistan are attached to the Assyrian, Chaldean, Syrian-Catholic and Syrian-Orthodox churches, which are among the most ancient Christian communities. Mirella Galletti analyses the history of these Christian communities of Kurdistan from Antiquity, when the region was under the control of the Roman and Persian Empires, to our times, when it has been shared between Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria. The author then invites seventeen Christian personalities to bear witness to the cultural wealth and vitality, the ordeals and the fragility of these communities. The massacres at the beginning of the 20th century, the successive wars (especially the most recent), massive emigration... all of these things are a threat to the culture and the very existence of Christian communities. This book is an act of faith in the dynamism of Christians, especially in Iraq, and their courage in safeguarding their culture.
