Mademoiselle de joncoux : polémique janséniste à la veille de la bulle unigenitus
Weaver Ellen - Collection Histoire
Résumé
--
A book for readers interested in the 17th century, the debate around Jansenism and the history of the last years of the community in Port Royal des Champs. Mademoiselle Françoise-Marguerite de Joncoux was the nuns' faithful and supportive friend during that difficult period. She contributed to the polemic works of the Jansenites who took refuge in the Netherlands at the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th. She also played an important role in the composition of nine volumes of history of the « Case of conscience » by regrouping the documents, Episcopal and other, of that time. She upheld and encouraged the bishops in their struggle for the cause of Jansenism, considered to be vital for the freedom of the Church against royal and even papal absolutism. A Jansenite and a strong and intelligent woman, known as the « invisible one », Mlle. De Joncoux deserved such a thorough study.
