Philosophie et theologie a l'epoquecontemporaine

Nous présentons ici la première « Anthologie » de textes concernant les rapports entre la philosophie et la théologie. Fidèle à l'esprit de la collection « Philosophie & Théologie » elle se donne pour objectif d'illustrer l'histoire complexe et mouvementée des relations entre ces deux disciplines, qui atteste à quel point le destin de la pensée occidentale est déterminé par les deux sources de la prophétie biblique et de la sagesse grecque. Souvent ignorée, parfois même occultée, cette détermination plurielle et fondatrice de la rationalité n'est pas seulement une clé importante pour déchiffrer l'histoire des idées, mais aussi pour réfléchir sur les présupposés de certaines pratiques actuelles. En réunissant et en présentant les grands textes où philosophes et théologiens affrontent la question de leur altérité, des origines jusqu'à la fin du XXe siècle, la présente « Anthologie » veut ainsi contribuer à la clarification des thèmes et des concepts qui structurent l'organisation du pensable, stimulent la recherche et la réflexion fondamentale en philosophie et en théologie, et éclairent notre agir, Les quatre tomes dont se compose l'« Anthologie » correspondent à quatre grandes époques historiques. Ce quatrième tome, qui fait l'objet de deux volumes, présente une sélection de plus de cinquante auteurs représentatifs du XXe siècle marqué par l'essor des sciences humaines, la prise de conscience grandissante de l'historicité, les développements de la philosophie analytique, le dialogue oecuménique, etc. Parmi les traits distinctifs de cette époque, qui détermine encore en grande partie les débats philosophico-théologiques du début du XXe siècle, on notera en particulier les incidences de la maxime husserlienne : « Aller aux choses mêmes » qui vaut aussi bien pour les philosophes que pour les théologiens.

In this book, we present the first 'Anthology' of texts treating the rapports between philosophy and theology. Faithful to the spirit of the "Philosophie & Théologie" series, its objective is to illustrate the complex and eventful history of relations between these two disciplines, which reveals to what extent the destiny of thinking in the Western world is determined by these two sources, Biblical prophecy and Greek wisdom. Often ignored, sometimes even dissimulated, that plural and founding determination of reason is not only a vital key to understanding the history of ideas, but also to thinking the basic notions of some modern practices. By assembling and presenting the great texts in which philosophers and theologians confront the question of their otherness, from the origins until the 20th century, this Anthology aims also to contribute to the clarification of themes and concepts which structure the organisation of the 'thinkable', and to stimulate research and fundamental reflection in philosophy and in theology, by enlightening our behaviour. The four tomes of this Anthology correspondent to four major historical periods. This fourth tome, in two volumes, presents a selection of more than fifty authors who represent the 20th century, marked by the progress in humanities, the growing awareness of historicity, the development of analytical philosophy, ecumenical dialogue, etc. Among the specificities of that period, which largely determines philosophical-theological debate at the beginning of the 20th century, readers will note the incidences of Husserl's maxim: "Back to the things themselves" which is just as valid for philosophers as for theologians.
