Spiritualite du japon
Lelong Maurice-Hyacinthe - Collection Bibliothèque du Cerf
Résumé
--
Basing his reflection on a notion rarely considered in books about Japan, 'seihin' (refined simplicity or 'a spiritual poverty that should be perceived in the aesthetic sense'), the author observes Japanese culture through the eyes of the West, of the believer, of the missionary who has travelled through all the continents. He establishes fascinating comparisons between his observations and the reflections of artists and poets, his contemporaries. As Father Kim En Joong says in his letter/preface, the work of Father Maurice-Hyacinthe Lelong 'follows a spiritual stream whose source lies in the aesthetic source of Japanese civilisation'. The habitat, an example of 'architecture made for man's happiness' (Le Corbusier) gardens where 'stones grow' where an ancient pine tree is a sort of 'vegetable ancestor' (Claudel) calligraphy, Noh and Shinto (all witnesses of the presence, in this 'highly evolved people', of the energy of their beginnings): Father Lelong has brought us a study of Japan as knowledgeable and accessible as it is insightful and fertile.
