We were created to respond to things as they actually are, but human beings should be distressed by what is distressing, horrified by violence and abuse, and deeply concerned about the possibility of injury to someone or something we love.#4 God is frequently jealous for the affection, loyalty, and worship of his people. Our negative emotions, like God's, play a necessary role in our lives. They tell us that something is wrong. We need to understand that our darker feelings are not a curse but a gift.
