I was trying to discover more important things: who I looked like, where I came from, and where my mother and father were.#3 I was four years old when I was taken from my mother. I was left on the back porch of a house, and the people who took me in left me there alone. I was terrified and did not dare leave the porch. It became completely dark, and I was terrified of the night sounds.#4 In 1972, the Andrade family, who had taken me in, made a call to the Department of Social Services, requesting that the state take me from their home as soon as possible. I had no belongings and was dressed in shabby clothing. I also had a long list of untreated medical ailments.
