I began putting things down in writing because people close to me told me repeatedly that I must write the story of finding the lot - a plot of land purchased by my father in 1935 and discovered seventy-seven years later.#2 I had some vague memories of my father, who died when I was seven. I didn't spend much time with him, and I don't remember any father-son talks. But I did know a lot about him, because his relatives would tell me about him.#3 I began to get used to the idea that I was facing a new kind of challenge. I applied to receive ownership of a lot that I had never even known existed.#4 I had to find proof that my father was the Shlomo Zvi Finkelman, who bought the lot. I began by imagining what my father did upon arriving in Palestine, and what trail he left that would help me locate his address.
