Résumé

The work contained in this volume focusses on the close relationships between geomorphology and environmental impact assessment, providing a multifocal overview about this issue. The presentation of several case studies covers a variety of environmental impacts derived from widespread human activities (quarrying, communication infrastructures, river management, urban development, land restoration or even land-use planning, among others) on different geomorphological components (such as landforms, soil, landscape, natural and human-induced hazards, etc.) and environments (glacial, fluvial, coastal..). Finally, taking into account this broad scope of perspectives, the case studies presented offer a methodological guide from the most traditional geomorphological approaches to the use of spatial data analysis and GIS tools and techniques. EIA constitutes a relatively new scientific branch in which a wide variety of specialists are becoming increasingly involved. This volume will be of interest for geomorphologists, biologists, geographers, architects, engineers, etc.
