Handbook of Holographic Interferometry

Optical and Digital Methods

Thomas Kreis - Collection Wiley-VCH

542 pages, parution le 07/12/2004

Résumé

This book gives a comprehensive overview of the physical principles, the algorithmic realizations, and various applications of holographic interferometry as a measurement tool in nondestructive testing as well as in experimental stress analysis. An emphasis is on the recent advances in digital holography, offering more flexibility, new applications, and the potential of a thorough automation of the computer aided measurement process.

Dealing with principles and methods of holographic interferometry, the book is focus sed on the quantitative computer-aided evaluation of the holographic interferograms. Based upon wave optics the evaluation methods, their implementation in computer algorithms, and their applications in physics and engineering are described.

From the contents:

  • Introduction
  • Optical Foundations of Holography
  • Digital Recording and Numerical Reconstruction of Wave Fields
  • Holographic Interferometry
  • Quantitative Determination of the Interference Phase
  • Processing of the Interference Phase
  • Speckle Metrology
  • Appendix: Signal Processing Fundamentals, Computer Aided Tomography, Bessel Functions

L'auteur - Thomas Kreis

Thomas Kreis was born in Kassel/Germany in 7952. He received his diploma in Mathematics from the University of Cottingen and his PhD in Engineering from the University of Hannover, where he was working at the Institute of Metrology in Engineering from 1977*0 1980. Since 1980 he has been working at the BIAS - Bremen Institute for Applied Beam Technology, where he accepted a post as head of the Department of Coherent Optics in 7986. He also teaches Applied Optics as well as Laser Fundamentals and Applications at the Physics Department of the University of Bremen. His research interests are in Optical Metrology, especially in Holographic Interferometry, where he tries to cover the whole range from the theoretical foundations to computer simulations to practical applications
