Résumé

The use of design notes, as well as the practical applications is one of the strengths of this revision. they add an important dimension to the text, encapsulating 'real world' issues that often would not make it into most texts. The design notes are great examples of this, pointing out that the best technical answer is often not the best practical answer in the real world.

Randy J.Jost, Utah State University

Richard Jaeger and Travis Blalock have revised Microelectronic Circuit Desig with the goal of producing a technically excellent book that is both student-friendly and practical. The second edition continues its focus on providing a comprehensive understanding of the basic techniques of modern electronic circuit design. New to this edition is an increased emphasis on practical design principles, real-world applications, and problem solving.

Pedagogical Framework: To improve student navigation through the book, chapters have been restructured to include chapter-open ing vignettes, chapter objectives, "Electronics in Action" boxes, a consistent problem-solving methodology, design notes, and summaries.

Practical Applications: "Electronics in Action" sections connect the student to the real world of electronics. These sections use everyday objects such as electric guitars, cell phones, air bags, and telescopes to demonstrate the application of real-world principles.

Emphasis On Design The authors emphasize real-world design principles and highlight them with the use of "Design Examples" and "Design Notes."

Problem-Solving Methodology- The book approaches problem solving in a consistent manner, teaching students by use of examples how to effectively break down problems and solve them.

Online Learning Center: This text is accompanied by a robust Online Learning Center that contains resources for students and instructors including PowerPoint Slides, solutions, SPICE files, a glossary, and more. (Complete listing of resources found on inside cover).
