Résumé
The volume seeks to elucidate the various technical, social
and economic means of managing the multiple uses and reuses
of water, optimally, sustainably and equitably, through an
understanding of the linkages and dynamics of interactions
involving water. The book has twelve chapters. The first
three chapters deal with the principles of hydrogeology,
dynamics of water environments, and water quality, and thus
provide the theoretical framework for the applications that
follow. The applications covered are: the techniques of
augmentation and conservation of water resources,
wastewater reuse systems, irrigated agriculture, industrial
and municipal uses of water, water pollution, criteria for
the allocation of water to competing users, etiology of
diseases that may be caused by contaminated water, and
impacts of climate change on water availability and water
use. The twelfth (final) chapter out lines the paradigms of
water resource management, by pulling together various
strands referred to earlier.
The book will be useful to university students and professionals in the areas of earth, environmental and water sciences and technologies, resource management, agriculture, ecology, civil engineering, etc.
