ColdFusion Web Development with Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 explores the great web development partnership between ColdFusion: a fantastically powerful but easy to learn server-side scripting language, and Dreamweaver: Macromedia's world-class visual web authoring tool. The book is full of practical examples. It begins by teaching the basics of the ColdFusion language, shows you how to use ColdFusion to perform tasks such as connecting to databases, decision making, reading XML, queries, and error handling, and lastly, it touches upon advanced topics such as creating ColdFusion extensions, custom functions, and Flash remoting (using Dreamweaver MX as the IDE). The book culminates with a large case study that shows you how to put everything together to build a fully operational, real world dynamic website. It also demonstrates common web applications such as a blog, a review page, and user registration/login functionality.

Jen deHaan is a freelance web designer/developer based in Calgary. She has been involved in writing, contributing to, or editing many computer books on Flash, ActionScript, digital video, and ColdFusion in 2002. She has co-authored three books on ActionScript for friend of ED Flash MX Designers ActionScript Reference, ActionScript Zero to Hero, and Flash MX Most Wanted Components. She was also a co-author of the ColdFusion Developers Handbook (Sybex).
