Résumé
Begin your exploration of Office XP by examining the name - the "XP" is for eXPerience, Microsoft sought extensive feedback from three primary user groups individuals, teams, and organizations, and promised a better experience for all. This is evident in the improved collaboration tools found in Office XP Start Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, then use the Send To command to initiate the review process and attach the document to an e-moil message.
Several other features are also at work in the upgrade. Anyone who has used Word will love the fact that you can now select non-contiguous text. PowerPoint users can incorporate two different slide masters in the some presentation. Excel now lets you create any type of Web query, as opposed to using default queries for stocks and currency exchanges. Pivot charts and pivot tables have been added to Access. The new speech recognition feature lets users dictate text and navigate menus using voice commands.
The new independent task pane gives Office XP a new look. This appears automatically on the right side of the screen when you begin specific tasks. The task pane helps you open any type of document in all applications, search or insert clip art, or view the contents of the clipboard. Also, the Office clipboard, first introduced in Office 2000, now holds up to 24 items.
The best news about Office XP is that upgrading is easy because the file formats for the four major applications Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint ore identical to their counterparts in Office 2000. And, don't be confused by the change in name when you do upgrade - the suite as a whole is referred to as "Office XP", but the individual applications are designated as version 2002.
Once again, we thank you, the reader, for choosing our book.
