Résumé

While there are many books used to teach introduction to programming courses, very few books combine the elements of 1) teaching computer programming from an application developer perspective, 2) teaching Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) by integrating it throughout the text, and 3) using C# as the programming language to teach concepts and techniques.

Benefits:

  • Features a "learn by doing" approach, so realistic, business-oriented examples as well as detailed explanations are used to illustrate concepts and demonstrate how to apply them.
  • Relies less on code generating wizards than most other books, to promote a more complete understanding of programming.
  • Focuses on Windows forms rather console applications, allowing students to create useful Windows programs resembling many of the programs they buy for personal or academic use.
  • Provides sidebars where appropriate to discuss tips, techniques, and common programming mistakes.
  • Includes the C# .NET 2003 Standard Edition CDs with every Student Edition of the book.

L'auteur - Jack Purdum

Dr. Purdum has authored 12 programming texts, numerous magazine articles and technical papers, and has over 25 years of teaching experience. He served as the director of development for a software company that produced programming tools, compilers, and statistical software for PC's coupled wit almost 30 years of consulting experience.
