Learn by Doing:

This book is designed to be a hands-on guide that teaches you to start developing multimedia applications in Director MX 2004. In the course of this book, you will complete four exciting projects, broken down into 17 different lessons. Each project and lesson builds on what you've already learned, so that when you're finished you will have a firm understanding of the development process. Throughout the book you'll find notes and tips that further explain key details and give you indispensable information. The included CD-ROM contains everything you need to build the projects, demo versions of some third-party extras, as well as 30-day trial versions of both Director and Flash.

L'auteur - Dave Mennenoh

Dave Mennenoh is a programmer, multimedia developer, author and entrepreneur. Dave got started using computers in the early 1980s when his mother got him a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A-one of the first home computers on the market. Using that computer, Dave had four games published in MicroPendium, a magazine dedicated to the TI.

In college, Dave majored in computer science and attended both the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, and the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. After college, Dave went on to work at a major computer reseller, installing hardware and software and then later supporting AutoCAD and 3D Studio.

In 1994 Dave moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he took a job as a 3D animator at a local multimedia company. In 1996, Dave and his brother Brian developed and produced the 3D adventure game Cracking the Conspiracy, which they finished in 1998. They used Director 5, and 3ds max 1.0 to create Cracking the Conspiracy, which is still available today.

Since 1998, Dave has worked full time in Director and, in 2002, wrote his first book Director 8.5 Shockwave Studio - The Complete Reference, for Osborne/McGraw-Hill.

Dave is also a volunteer for Director's Team Macromedia Program, and spends a couple of hours each day answering questions and giving advice in the news groups and mailing lists.

Currently, Dave resides in Waukesha, Wisconsin, with his girlfriend Jacqueline, their dog Gribbin, and their two cats, Einstein and Newton. Dave is an avid mountain biker, and in the summer months can be found racing in the Wisconsin Off Road Series with his cousin, uncle, and about 600 other mountain bikers.
