began programming on personal computers at the age of seven, when he taught himself BASIC and machine language on an Apple ] [ computer. Beginning at age 14, he developed database applications for clients of a small personal computer consulting company. After graduating with a bachelor of science degree from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, Steven began writing client/server applications full-time on Windows platforms, using the latest Microsoft tools and technologies. He currently works as a consultant for RDA Consultants, Ltd., in the Washington D.C., area, architecting and implementing advanced, large-scale client/server applications. Rick A. Lievano

has been developing client/server solutions for the past four years. Although most of his work has been on the Windows platform, Rick has recently introduced client/server development concepts into Internet/intranet applications. Before the Internet changed everyone's lives, Rick's primary focus was on building advanced client/server applications using Visual C++ and the Microsoft Foundation Classes. As a consultant for RDA Consultants, Ltd., Rick has helped his clients transition legacy processes to traditional client/server and Internet architectures. Roger Jennings

is a principal of Oakleaf Systems, a northern California consulting firm specializing in Windows client/server database and digital video applications. Roger is the best-selling author of Sams Publishing's Access 2 Developer's Guide and Database Developer's Guide with Visual Basic 4. He has contributed to the Microsoft Developer Network CD-ROM and Microsoft Developer News. Roger was a member of the beta-test team for Microsoft Windows 3.1 and 95; Windows NT 3.1, 3.5, 3.51, and 4.0 (Workstation and Server); Exchange Server; SQL Server 6.0 and 6.5; Proxy Server; ActiveMovie; Media Server; and every release of Access and Visual Basic. Roger is also a contributing editor for the Visual Basic Programmer's Journal.
