Résumé

Includes a color wall poster with Java classes for NOI

In addition to referencing the extensive new APIs for Java, Programming Domino 4.6
with Java
is a how-to guide for developing sophisticated programs that take full
advantage of the best programming language for the Internet, Java, and the best
development platform for group-aware applications, Domino.

For the first time, Domino release 4.6 provides a Java library for the Notes Object
Interface (NOI), previously available only using LotusScript and OLE. Using Domino 4.6,
developers can write both stand-alone applications and agents in Java.

Written by Bob Balaban, the author of both the LotusScript and Java versions of NOI,
this definitive reference shows how to use the Java programming language to manipulate
Domino objects and create killer Internet applications.

The book demonstrates how to use Java for Domino to fullest advantage, including

  • writing Java applications for Domino
  • programming and debugging Java agents for Domino
  • using NOI in multithreaded Java programs
  • converting servlets to agents
  • and combining JDBC with NOI to move data between relational databases and Notes/Domino

CORBA and IIOP, technologies due to be incorporated in Domino 5.0, are also covered.
The CD includes all source code for the examples, Sun's Java Servlet Development Kit,
Lotus's LSX Toolkit, and all the Notes databases including code for converting servlets
into Domino agents without recoding.
