natural object or process in the scientific fields, from
artificial intelligence to bio-engineering, and also in art
and communication where the reproduction process itself is
a central issue. Observations linked to the generation of
both mental cultural representations allow readers to
discover common features between artificial objects and
processes. Looks at typical steps in the design process,
methodological constraints, typical features in the
artificial, and differences between reproduction,
