This book is divided into five major parts, each of which consists of three to six chapters. Each chapter is divided into sections which discuss various aspects of the chapter's main subject. The book is modular enough that you can read it in any order you like.

Part I- Unicenter TNG: What Is It Good For? (Plenty!)

Part I provides a high-level view of Unicenter TNG, focusing on enterprise management software capabilities and how Unicenter TNG supports business goals. You will learn what value the Unicenter TNG Base Product delivers, and you will get the inside scoop on The Next Generation's next iteration: Unicenter TND (The Next Dimension).

Part I is of particular value to nontechnical businesspeople, executives, and consultants who wish to understand the relevance of Unicenter and who want to be aware of its extensive capabilities, but who will not be working with Unicenter. Administrators and developers who implement Unicenter also will benefit from the concepts and technical foundation Part 1 provides.

Part II - Making Unicenter TNG Work for You

Part II goes into more depth than Part 1, beginning with a detailed look at Unicenter TNG architecture. Part II emphasizes how-to information for using the Unicenter TNG Framework and Base Product functions. People who require hands-on knowledge of Unicenter TNG will find some very basic how-to information for getting started with various Unicenter TNG functions. This part is especially useful to novice Unicenter TNG administrators and operators.

Part III - Running a Tight Ship

This section examines the behind-the-scenes activities for everyday operations and provides how-to information for administrators. This section is useful for beginning to intermediate users as well as to consultants who require some hands-on knowledge of Unicenter.

Part IV - The Part of Tens

Unique to the For Dummies series, The Part of Tens provides quick-reference lists for all the stuff you don't want to remember. (Rather than memorize those logarithms, look 'em up.9

Look for the chapter that presents some of the most widely used commands along with syntax and examples. Part IV also includes high-level information on Unicenter TNG options and a selected list of Unicenter TNG Agents.

This section is especially useful for hands-on users and people who are involved in recommending which features and options to implement.

Part V - Appendixes

Ah, appendices, appendixes. However you spell it, these point the reader to additional information sources, specifically, CA-sponsored education and in house documentation (available with the Unicenter TNG product CD).

A glossary rounds out the book by covering terms that are interspersed throughout the book.

At the very back of the book, you will find a CD, which will let you try out Unicenter TNG Framework.
