Petite soeur magdeleine de jesus
Ptte Soeur Annie Jes
Résumé
--
Following in the footsteps of Charles de Foucauld, Magdeleine Hutin, later to become Petite Soeur Magdeleine de Jésus, went to the Algerian Sahara in 1939 where she founded the first fraternity of the little sisters of Jesus. Inhabited by a deep spiritual experience, she discovered, in the countenance of the baby of Bethlehem, the transcending God given into her arms through love defenceless as a new born babe... Inhabited by a burning love, she travelled to all corners of the world. Through humble and respectful friendship, she shared the infinite tenderness of God for each one of His creatures with the poorest and most abandoned among men. Very soon, she was sending 'little sisters', young and inexperienced, to the five continents, to trouble-torn lands, where she wished their fraternities to be 'like the grotto in Bethlehem, a sign of the presence of Jesus, a sign of God's tender love, a ray of light and hope in the midst of the suffering in a world of injustice and violence'. All during her life, she also worked for the unity of the vast human family, in respect of each person's inviolable dignity, whatever their race, religion or nationality. This book, written by one of the little sisters who knew her well, offers a lively portrait through her own writings.
