Advanced Spatial Analysis
The CASA Book of GIS
Paul A. Longley, Michael Batty - Collection Geographic Information Systems/Spatial Analysis
Résumé
Advanced Spatial Analysis: The CASA book of GIS describes cutting-edge developments in GIS applications at University College London's Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA). Drawn from archaeology, architecture, cartography, computer science, environmental science, geography, planning, remote sensing, geomatic engineering and transport studies, these applications are emerging as the basis for spatial decision support systems across a wide range of industries and jurisdictions.
Accessible and innovative, these projects show how spatial analysis is essential to solving problems and creating insight into how people live and how their quality of life can be enhanced.
L'auteur - Paul A. Longley
Paul A. Longley, Professor of Geographic Information Science (Department of Geography, UCL), acts as Deputy Director of CASA. He has degrees from the University of Bristol (B.Sc., Ph.D., D.Sc.). His research is focused around the principles and techniques of geographic information science (GISc), with research applications in geodemographics, urban morphological analysis and urban remote sensing.
L'auteur - Michael Batty
CASA is run under the directorship of Michael Batty, Professor of Spatial Analysis and Planning (UCL). He has degrees from the University of Manchester (B.A.) and University of Wales (Ph.D.), and is a Fellow of the British Academy as well as of the RTPI, CIT and RSA. His research is in the development of computer-based technologies, specifically graphics-based and mathematical models for cities, and he has worked recently on applications of fractal geometry and cellular automata to urban structure.
