Volume 1, Introduction
Howard A. Peelle - Collection C3 Research Studies Press LTD Industrial Control, Computers and Communications Series
Résumé
Key Features:
- Offers an active workbook approach, inviting exploration and experimentation via examples for self-learning with or without a computer
- Uses an executable mathematical notation - J
- Illustrates a variety of topics for secondary arid college mathematics education
Content:
This book introduces mathematical computing using J - a powerful new programming language with practical applications in mathematics, actuarial analysis, scientific research, business data processing, and education. Derived from APL, J was designed as an executable mathematical notation by Dr. Kenneth E. Iverson and was implemented by Roger K. W. Hui. J unifies many areas of mathematics, has a simple consistent syntax with very few rules, yet includes a large number of functions and operators as tools for thinking and problem solving. J software is available free for evaluation and education from www.jsoftware.com.
Readership:
This book will appeal to:
- Teachers teaching mathematics/computer science in schools
- Students learning mathematics/computer science in schools
- Lecturers teaching mathematics courses in higher education
- Students at undergraduate and postgraduate level
- Computer professionals wanting to learn J
