Teaching and Learning Building Design and Construction
Architectural Engineering and Design Management
Résumé
Innovation in building design and construction is supported by a strong teaching and learning (T&L) platform. Issues such as increasing class sizes, loss of construction laboratory space, and the need for students to earn money while in full-time education can cause problems in student attendance and progression. New T&L strategies are required to cope successfully with a growing number of students and a changing student profile.
This special issue of the Architectural Engineering and Design Management (AEDM) international journal covers key themes in this arena, including student-centered learning, practice-based learning, good practice and evaluation, and instructional systems design (ISD). Also included are contributions on e-pedagogy, standardization of e-learning and learning objects, e-learning to bridge the gap between industry and academia and Virtual Learning Environments.
This special issue, written by international experts in the field, will be required reading for lecturers and students in the built environment, in particular university courses on engineering, architecture, and related topics, as well as all professionals interested in T&L, continuing professional development (CPD), and distance learning in the built environment sector.
