Globalization and cultural diversity can create major challenges in communication. Intercultural Communication helps individuals understand and work across differences in race, culture, gender, age, and class. This, in turn, provides the background and confidence to succeed in today's multicultural workplace.

With Intercultural Communication, students will learn to:

Build critical constructive communication skills that transcend the challenges inherent in cross-culture communication
Explore an innovative "inside-out" approach that begins with personal awareness of the implications of one's own cultural background, worldviews, mental models, and perceived role and responsibilities
Identify inherited stereotypes

Understand that words and actions either help or hinder their ability to effectively engage in these discussions
Identify opportunity for skill building; where and how to create change
Respond to challenges and those less skilled in communicating
