This book provides practitioners with an overview of the principles and methods needed to build reliable biometric systems for automatic human recognition. It covers three main topics: key biometric technologies, testing protocols and results, and the legal and system considerations of biometric systems. It focuses on four of the most widely used technologies-speaker, fingerprint, iris and face recognition. It also provides the reader with the most comprehensive overview to date of the US constitutional issues involved in the government use of biometric identification.
